What is a Boudoir shoot?

“Boudoir photography is a photographic style featuring intimate, sensual, romantic and sometimes erotic images of its subjects in a photographic studio or bedroom, primarily intended for the private enjoyment of the subjects and their romantic partners.” Wikipedia

Why Should every woman do a boudoir shoot?

  1. For You,
  2. To discover a new confidence
  3. Because it’s fun
  4. To feel pampered
  5. To get out of your comfort zone
  6. An excuse to buy new underwear
  7. To feel Sexy & EMPOWERED

I’ve never done anything like this before, can I have a Boudoir Shoot?

Of course, BU Photography is for EVERYONE. Most women we photograph have never done a boudoir photoshoot before. We will guide you through everything you need to know throughout your session, and our female photographer will show you how to pose throughout your shoot.

How long does a boudoir session last?

A typical session lasts between 3-4 hours. This includes makeup and hair styling, outfit changes, and the actual shoot. We ensure there’s enough time to create a relaxed atmosphere without feeling rushed.

What should I bring to my boudoir photoshoot?

Usually we ask you to bring 3 sets of lingerie, heels if you have them (we have size 3-8 available in the studio), a robe to cover when moving between studios, any props relating to your shoot style, something that can make your shoot personal, e.g. your partners shirt, or something related to your hobby.

How do I prepare for my boudoir shoot?

Prepare by ensuring you are well-rested and hydrated. Wash and dry your hair the day before your experience. Avoid tight clothing on the day to prevent marks on your skin.

Anything I need to know before my boudoir session?

On the day of your shoot please arrive at the studio 10 minutes before your appointment time. Please wear loose fitting clothing to avoid leaving line marks on your skin, do not use moisturiser or fake tan, do not wear make up, and make sure hair is completely dry.

What type of clothing should I wear for my boudoir shoot?

Choose outfits that make you feel confident and comfortable. This could be any style lingerie, bra & knicker sets, corsets, teddies etc or nothing at all. Consider various textures and layers to add depth to your images. Our team can also provide suggestions based on your comfort level.

Can I bring someone with me for support?

Absolutely! If having a friend with you makes you feel more comfortable, we welcome them. However, due to limited space in the studios we will ask them to wait in the Makeup room during your Photography Session.

What can I expect during the photoshoot? I’m nervous about posing

Your comfort is our primary concern. Our all-female team creates a relaxed, judgment-free environment. We’ll guide you through every pose, so you don’t need to worry about what to do. We start with simple poses to help you get comfortable in front of the camera. As the shoot progresses, we’ll move to more intimate shots at your pace. You’re always in control – if there’s anything you’re not comfortable with, just let us know. Many clients tell us they’re surprised by how much fun they have and how empowering the experience is!

How much retouching is done on the final images? I want to look like myself

Our philosophy is to enhance, not alter. We believe in celebrating your natural beauty. Our retouching process focuses on creating a polished look while keeping your unique features intact. We’ll smooth out temporary blemishes and even out skin tone, but we won’t remove permanent features like birthmarks, scars or tattoos unless you specifically request it. The goal is to present the most beautiful version of you, not to create an unrealistic image. You’ll have the opportunity to review and select your favourite images, and we’re always happy to discuss any specific retouching requests you may have.

Is there an age limit for a boudoir shoot?

Participants must be at least 18 years old. We may require a valid ID for age verification before the shoot to ensure compliance with legal standards.

Do you shoot trans clients for Boudoir Experiences?

Yes we are an all inclusive studio.

How do you ensure the privacy and security of my photos?

Your privacy is our top priority. All of our shoots are conducted in a private, secure studio environment. Your photos are stored on password-protected devices and are never shared without your explicit consent. You have full control over which images are kept and how they’re used. We understand the intimate nature of boudoir photography and treat your trust in us with the utmost respect.

Do you share my images on Social Media or other Marketing Platforms?

We do not share any images without consent. If you agree to letting us use your images for social media or marketing we will give you a consent form to complete. Consent can be withdrawn at any time by emailing us at info@BUPhotographystudio.co.uk
